New York City Girls Trip

I was a little worried about flying to NYC after Super Storm Sandy, but mom reassured me she called the hotel and they did have electricity!  So we left sunny 80 degree San Antonio for the Big Apple.  Although I was sad to be leave my hubby I was excited to be at the airport with the girls & was ready for some fun!  The flight from San Antonio to Baltimore was excellent.  I slept most of the way.... But once we landed in Baltimore we were hit with the unexpected news that our flight to NYC had been canceled due to the Nor Easter that was blowing in.  At this point nothing was going to ruin our girls trip!  Not even 70MPH winds!  We went to baggage claim, picked up our bags, and headed for the train station where we waited for several hours for the next train.  The train ride was fun!  We got to see a lot of scenery, which was really nice because the trees were starting to change colors.  Once we got to Penn Station in New York we started to head out to grab a taxi to head to the hotel.  Little did we realize that with the wet snow, howling winds, and freezing temperatures everyone else was trying to grab a taxi as well :)  We ended up speed walking while trying not to slip and fall to our hotel room.  I felt bad for mom because she had pulled a leg muscle while trying to load my luggage on the train so she could barely walk and I also felt horrible for Cindy because she didn't bring a coat and had on a thin white button up shirt.  After we all made it to the hotel we decided to head to Macy's to get Cindy a coat and find something warm to eat.  Once again we headed back out into the cold wet streets.  Again there were no cabs to be found so we started making the 7 block walk to Macy's, except this time the wind was blowing harder & the snow was falling faster.  My sis & I even had to stop in a souvineer shop in order to by an umbrella to shield us from being pelted by the icey snow flakes.  When we made it to Macy's we got Cindy a coat, picked out some rubber soled shoes for mom, and then went across the street for a warm meal.  We finally headed back to hotel to get some sleep with high hopes that tomorrow was going to be a better day.
The next morning we woke up to snow capped buildings.  It was beautiful and I knew then that the rest of our vacation was going to be amazing!  Which it was.  We did some shopping, saw a play, had some yummy meals, and even saw the Rockettes to get us in the holiday mood :)  I love New York!
